25 Days of Christmas-5

This afternoon I proudly made my first batch of homemade cookies ever. I guess the holidays got me in the spirit this year. The ladies I work with are having a cookie exchange tomorrow, like they do every year around this time, and I thought I would get in on it this year.

I was a bit nervous to sign up because most of the ladies I work with are really good cooks. My great friend, and co-worker, JoAnn is the organizer of the swap, and she told me that I could come to her house for some coaching and encouraging as I baked. I know how to read a recipe of course, but sometimes I second guess myself or worry if I am doing things right. JoAnn was my cheerleader all the way through. Even when we burned the first dozen.

The pics below show our afternoon adventure in holiday baking. The cookies I made were called "snowballs." They are basically round chocolate chip and pecan cookies with powdered sugar on top. The tasted pretty good. BEWARE of the calories... According to the recipe, one cookie is 120 calories. THAT IS A LOT!

I would love to hear from some of you about your favorite holiday foods. Let me know what you like to bake around this time of year.

Merry Christmas!

JoAnn's cookies were really good too. They're called "Chocolate Chubbies."
