I cannot believe we are finally on the roads of America on this trip of a lifetime!!!! I am so excited to be doing this... I have wanted to take a cross country trip since my senior year of high school... I went to visit a friend of mine (TERI) in Utah and I have had the bug to see more of the "countryside" ever since... Below is a pic of the packed up car... and me and Matt as I was testing out the timer on the camera!
We left this morning around 630....Had breakfast in Atlanta and kept on going.... We had to stop for gas in Meridian, MS... I was proud of my car... We got 415 miles on 1 tank of gas... That's 65 more than we were counting on.... For all you who are wondering... gas was 3.99 a gallon where we got it.... Here in Pearl it is about 12 cents cheaper...
On the way through Tuscaloosa we experimented with the GPS. Matt wanted to see Alabama Football Stadium and the GPS took us right to the front gate.... I LOVE THE GPS!!!!!
Once we got into Mississippi we kept seeing this sign for a town called "Chunky." I figured they heard I was coming and changed the name so I wanted to get my picture with the sign that named itself after me... So when we got to the exit I pulled into the emergency lane and off we went... I ran up the huge embankment and got my feet filthy with some kind of nasty sand and Matt snapped my pic... I love how the arrow is pointing at me....
We got to our hotel about 3 Central time and headed to the pool for some rest... After some sun and a shower we headed over to the Mississippi Braves Stadium. It is about a mile from our Hampton Inn... Tickets were 12 bucks and we had a blast... It was a great way to spend the evening since we are just passing through here on the way across... Below you can see a pic of me and the mascots... Those of you from Greenville should know that this is the team that was formerly known as the Greenville Braves... We left in the 7th because there hadn't been a hit since the 1st inning...but it was still fun.
Tomorrow it's on to Dallas... I am sure we will stop and see lots of things along the way...

Hahahaha ... I love the stats at the bottom and the Chunky sign! Who names a town Chunky?? I used to pass through Toad Suck, Arkansas when I was in grad school. I expect more funny town names :)
So funny that you stopped in Meridian of all places... my in-laws live there! (They moved there a year ago)... Looks like you are already having fun! Drive safe!
Love the Chunky sign joke. Have a Texas size steak when you are in BIG D for me. Hope your AC keeps working! Hampton beds are the BEST!
