Today we were watching a video on the Promethean board about severe weather... During the video we heard an alarm.... The kids said... "Mr. Dearybury Mr. Dearybury.... I think we are having a fire drill." I told the kids not to worry about it that it was part of the video... I told that was the sound that the weather man would use to alert us that severe weather was coming......
I knew we weren't having a drill because it was 11:00.... the 1st grade was at lunch, it was raining, and we never got an email warning us that the drill was coming. (which is standard procedure for those of you not familiar with a school fire drill.) Besides..... who has a fire drill during lunch.... Lord help us if we ever have a fire during lunch... No one would know how to get out!!!
The noise continued and I noticed people walking down the hall, and sure enough we were having a drill... or was this for real????????????? I lined the kids up and quickly walked out..... I was laughing on the inside because there we were about to be consumed in the "fictitious" blaze learning about severe weather.
When we got outside I realized I was not the only one caught off guard... a co-worker off mine was just about to answer nature's call and off went the alarm... I guess it could have been worse!!!!!!!!!

We are working with his teacher and the principle,,, I just do not like the way that principle is handleing it.... I will put up with her put offs on a face to face only so much longer until I step it up a notch... I know all to weel what phone chats mean.... ~~~~~!!!~~
Gah don't you hate those days!! Try having a fire drill with construction around the school and walking through fire ants. OR, having all of 2nd grade go through a fire exit door in a classroom. Love it.
Jed...Jed...Jed...did you miss the christian lesson there? How many times in our lives do we hear our own "warning alarms" going off in our heads or our hearts about something we are doing, or are about to do and just pass it off as nothing to be worried about! I know I am number one in line to "fess up" on that one! Never take an alarm for granite, it might just save your life.
I'll be praying for you today and tomorrow with everything you have going on.
