Day 8,9,10, 11: Las Vegas, NV

I'm Baaaaaaaaccccccckkkk!!! I know ya'll have missed me, but miss no longer.... Thanks to the luxurious Hampton Inn of St. George, UT the world wide web is again at my finger tips!!!

3 days ago our cross country trip took us to Nevada....Las Vegas, NV to be exact.... We stopped and got a pic at the state line as we have done for several states now... When we took this pic the car thermometer registered 115 degrees!!!!

Our first stop in Vegas after the hotel was somewhere to eat... We ate at the ESPN Sports Zone Bar and Grille.... Matt, as you can see below, was in heaven...When we told the hostess how many, she ask us what game we wanted to watch.. They had every game that was on TV on in the restaurant.... It was CRAZY!!!!

While there for 3 days we stayed at the Flamingo Hotel and Casino... It was great... Many thanks to Teri's friend Danelle who got us such a great deal!!!!

The pics below show you what a great room we had.... It was possibly the nicest hotel I had EVER stayed.... The drapes over the window were electronic and the buttons were just beside the beds!!

Don't miss the cool feature in the pic below.... There is a TV in the mirror in the bathroom... The speaker was just above the shower so you could listen while you bathed!!!!!

The next 3 pics are the views from our window!!!

Scenes from the hotel pool!!!

On Sunday night we had dinner at the Rainforest Cafe... Very cool place to go... There were animals everywhere and the sound effects in the place were really neat!!!

After dinner we went to see the shoe called "Stomp." It is a show where these amazing percussionists beat out different sounds and rhythms using everyday objects.... Google "STOMP" to see more about it!!! IT WAS INCREDIBLE!!!!!

After "Stomp" we decided to head up to the top of the Eiffel Tower at the Paris Hotel and Casino... It was too cool!!!

At the top of the tower we were 50 stories up... Very good view!!!

Check out the video below for a real time perspective!!!

On Monday, we started out our day by visiting the Forum Shops at Caesar's Palace. It is a mall with lots of modern day stores but painted and built to be like something out of Roman times...

We had lunch at the Planet Hollywood in there... It was Matt's first time to a Planet Hollywood!

After lunch we took a cab down to the other end of the Strip to a hotel/casino called Circus Circus.... Some people say this is on the "shady" end of the Strip but we liked it.... They have an indoor amusement park called Adventure Dome...

Check out the video of us riding the coaster in the dome!!!

After a fun afternoon in the dome, we headed back down the strip to where our show was for the night... On the way we got really hot, because it humpteen million degrees, so we decided to stop at the really cool little burger joint to get a milkshake... We got a little giddy from the heat here, thus the silly pics!!!

Although we just ordered milkshakes, and she didn't have to do a lot for us, this was our favorite waitress in all of Vegas... She was the only one who took the time to talk to us... The rest are too busy to take care of their customers... but this one was great!!!!

As I said above we were headed to Treasure Island where our show was for the night...

The show was Mystere... a Circque Du Solie show... The acrobats, and circus like performers were amazing.... but Matt and I are just country boys and didn't really get the plot... It was good though.

After the show at like 9ish we had dinner at what may have been my favorite restaurant in Vegas called Kahunaville... Just the name of it invited you in for a fun time...

This is my dinner... Teriyaki Stir Fry....Below is a pic of the restaurant... What made this place fun were the bartenders.... They were like Tom Cruise in Cocktail... The did all kind fo crazy stunts and everyone was hooting and hollering and stuff.... lots of fun!!!

Vegas was great, but I must admit I am glad to be back in a "normal" town like St. George, UT... Here is where on of my best friends ever lives... Many of you have heard me talk about my friend Teri.. She is an avid lurker of the blog but never comments... She and I have been friends since 1994 and have kept in touch all these years... She is married now with 2 kids and a really nice husband... They have welcomed Matt and I here in the town and treated us to a GREAT mexican dinner at the Cafe Rio. I am so thankful we get to reunite for a few days. We are going tubing on the river tomorrow at Zion National Park so I should have some great pics.... Til' Then!!!!

Day 10 Stats:
Mileage: 112 miles
Drive Time: 1.5 hrs.
Gas: $58.51 ( Paid the highest price so far in Vegas...4.34 a gallon...Good news...he car was parked in Valet Parking at the Flamingo for 3 days!!!)

Dear Huck and Tom-

Okay, now I'm just so envious!! I wanna go!

Meredith and I rode the roller coaster with you guys. By the way, she said Mr. Jed was sreaming like a girl!! Ha!

Thanks guys for taking us along with you, it's been an incredible time for us and I can't even imagine the wonderful time you two are having.

I know you had to have played with the drapes in your room.., am I right?

I'm so very glad they had a barrier up at the Eiffel Tower. With that wind whipping around you might have been blown overboard!

We miss you guys but, I'm so thankful that you are having the time of your lives. As I said before, some people only dream of this.

Stay safe and remember I love you.

OK guys no one has asked the main question that needs to be asked after 2 guys have been in Vegas for three days. So here goes---HOW MUCH DID YOU LOSS PLAYING THE GAMES!!! Looks like fun! It's almost as hot here as it is there.

Glad you guys are safe. I have enjoyed the vicarious trip. I've got to tell you that the Colorado River looks a million times more gratifying (and at least that much less overwhelming) than Vegas does. You boys sure have eaten a lot of beef - when you get further west, I'll expect some tofu to make an appearance. Be safe and have fun!

It is great being able to follow you on your great adventure. I don't know if it would help but check out www.gasbuddy.com. for gas prices http://www.utahgasprices.com/St_George/index.aspx

You can get gas prices for anywhere in the U.S. You might have to look up the county that the city is in. Have fun and keep up the great blog.

I stayed at the Flamingo in April of 2001. Looks like they've upgraded since then. Vegas is always changing I think if you worked construction you could work 24/7. I like following your blog, found on sb.com. Hope the rest of your trip is enjoyable.
