What am I talking about???? I am talking about the count down to the right of this post... The one that says days til a new decade.... Well.... it sure is getting close... My birthday and the big 3-0. I can't believe it's here... it seemed to come so fast. None the less it is on the way this week.... Thursday, the 10th.
I know many of you are saying... "Awwww 30 is still a baby..." It may be to you if you are like 50 or 60, but to me 30 is the "oldest" I have ever been... I always thought I would feel different by this age...more "grown up".... more "refined".... more "wise".... more "adult-like." I heard an elderly man at church say this last week and it has been ringing in my head this week....
He said... "Everyone keeps asking me how does it feel to be 80 and I keep telling them I don't know because I have never been 80 before and I don't know what I am supposed to feel like."
That's me in a nut shell... 30 is coming... but I really don't know how to feel... I am happy and thankful...ready for a new decade in life, but wondering when am I gonna feel "grown up?"

Ok....this is what's bad...I graduated from high school the year you were born! ;) That thought really makes me feel OLD!
Jed- who says you have to grow up? I can honestly say that the bad part about growing older is that your body changes. When I was in my 30's I could still outrun all the girls on my softball team (including the teens) and most of the men. Now I do good to be able to walk to the bathroom and back.
Age, it's just a number and it's all in your mind. I refuse to grow older in my mind, it's just the body that doesn't seem to cooperate.
Enjoy this time cause in the blink of an eye you'll be my age (54 in May).

Oh by the way..., that means I was 24 years old in 1978 and had been out of high school for six years. I was also married at the time too (4 years).
I turned 30 in January....it's bad. I was depressed for a week. :) I know that sounds silly but it was a hard one for me. I'm better now though!!
