The title of today's blog is "Ketchup" (Check out the link for an interesting history lesson) I LOVE Ketchup!!!! I eat it on lots of things....and I usually use a lot of it.... The funny thing is that sometimes people are almost offended by my amount of ketchup consumption..... My question to those people is.....Who in the world cares about my ketchup consumption.... especially that lady at the ketchup pump in the fast food restaurant who thinks I am ridiculous for getting 6 little cups full.... Honestly I could get way more... I think I am being courteous by limiting myself to 6...but, I digress.....
Anyway.... I thought I would list some of the foods that I like ketchup on that you may not like since my good friend Matt talked about my love of the blessed condiment of our Lord on his blog today...
1. Salmon Patties, my mom's are the best!!!
2. Mash Potatoes
3. Pinto Beans, Crowder Peas, Black-eyed peas, etc
4. Bread, yes just plain 'ol loaf bread dipped in ketchup is good to me
5. Cheese, block cheese cut into cubes....mmmmmmmm!!!!
6. Cheez-it Crackers
7. Weenies heated in the microwave
8. Kraft Mac and Cheese.... I tried this when I was starving in the desert in Senegal, West Africa, and fell in love with it!!!!
9. Zwan- a meat kinda like Spam from the Netherlands, also another Africa delicacy..If you look on the link..the kind we had was on the bottom right of the picture!!! Gosh I miss it!!!
10. Pancakes.................just kidding, just wanted to get you so say "OOO GROSSS!!!!"
Please send me your thoughts...let me know what you like ketchup on, especially if it is weird or different...I may like it because I am weird and different!!!....and I am dying to know....Heinz or Hunt's??? I won't tell you my favorite 'til I have at least 10 responses, as matter of fact I here by announce a blog boycott 'til I have 10 faithful friends who will respond..... RESPOND NOW!!! O, One more thing....comments from the following people are expected and do not count towards the 10...... Matt, Julie, Mandie, Joye, and KJA so really there should be 15 responses...get busy!
You may be asking why a blog boycott....I am trying to get you all to learn how to respond so when I move to the Philippines, I will know you are there...For some of you it will be our only communication for year..... go ahead and give it a try!!! Jed we are so much alike! I love love love ketchup. Honestly I really don't have a preference, but if I had to choose it would be Heinz.
I was laughing about you writing about dipping bread in it, because I have made ketchup sandwiches many times. Have you ever tried it on rice? It's good especially when the rice is plain.
But if there is ketchup on the table...it will end up on my plate!

i would probably be one of those offended by your ketchup use. i know people who don't even taste a good piece of meat before they smother it in ketchup. that's offensive to me, especially if i cooked it! i think the same thing about people who smother their food in salt and pepper before they've even tasted it.
i do like ketchup in eggs some times, but i prefer salsa in them.
i like heinz, but it's hard for me to support John Kerry's wife's fortunes. although, i don't think my $1 spent on a bottle of heinz is making that much difference!
i've never tried ketchup sandwiches, but i have been known to put mustard on a piece of bread and fold it up and eat it. yum!
Oops... I lied! My mom buys Heinz! So Heinz it is!
I use Hunt's because I boycott Heinz because I am a Southern Republican in opposition of Theresa Heinz-Kerry.
Anyway, ketchup becomes best when mixed with mayonnaise.
just have to add that i saw ketchup flavored chips tonight at our super walsmart. it made me think of you!

Good Morning! I tried to reply to your plea for repsonses concerning ketchup usage, but never received confirmation the email went through on the blog site. I kept receiving the 300 character message. I just wanted to know my thoughts, so here they are:
You are not different, just WONDERFULLY made. When my brother was just a tot, he put ketchup (HUNTS) on his green beans, green peas, mashed potatoes and even eggs. He grew out of that and doesn't use that much anymore. As for Austin, he personally like ketchup bisquits. Everyone has their preferences, as out neighbor puts syrup on his scrambled eggs, while Andy and the boys, put ranch dressing on everything and do I mean everything.

Hey what's wrong with good ol' Great Value ketchup? (was that wrong to say? :) Otherwise I but Hunts -it's cheaper!
Jed, people always look at me like I am crazy when I do it but you have to put ketchup on your spaghetti. It makes it ohhhhhh so much better!

I'm with Matt, ketchup becomes better with mayo (and a dash of worcestershire) and we call it fry sauce!
I can't believe that nobody mentioned how good a grilled cheese sandwich is with ketchup! Fried egg sandwiches, too.
