It Has Begun.......

This week I have officially started the process of cleaning up my room getting ready to move at the end of May...... I must say I have a HUGE task in front of me..... There is so much stuff in this tiny space and as I have started to clean I realize how much of it is just useless clutter.......

I have posted a picture at the bottom of today's blog of just the paper waste that has come out my unit boxes...For those of you not from the teacher world a unit box contains everything you need to teach a specific unit... For example everything I need to teach about penguins would be in a penguin box..... Check out this link for 8 steps to declutterring your space.

As i cleaned them out there was tons of stuff (junk and clutter) in there that I didn't use or didn't need.... The same thing as I cleaned out my desk.... tons of pens and pencils and paperclips and highlighters.... and to think I almost buy new ones every time I go to Wal-mart.....

What is it about us as Americans or just people for that matter that drives us to want more and more stuff......Even stupid little stuff like paper clips.... Maybe it is just me that wants stuff like that.... But what is it that you want..... Is it stuff for you car???? ....Is it stuff for your house and yard???......Is it stuff to scrapbook with???? .....(sorry ladies it just came to mind)...... Is it more toys for your kids????..... Is it more video games....

Maybe is it not even physical stuff.... maybe it is status, power, or attention we want....

Regardless of the things we think we need, are they really all so important..... As I have begun this journey to the Philippines, I have really had to learn what is important and what is not... and honestly paper clips and status are no where on the list!
