Reading for fun?

As a first grade teacher, It is my job to teach kids to read. Everyday from 8-9am we have a reading class called Sucess For All. During this time the every student changes classes to go to a reading class on their reading level. I teach the advanced first graders. They are really good readers. Everyday I tell them to Read, Read, Read...We suceed when we read......but you know what..... I hate to read....Everytime I pick up a book I fall asleep....Even when i read aloud to my students I start to yawn after 2 pages....and that's with a kiddie book....I want to read...I hear all of my friends talking about how cool this book was...or how that book just taught them a lot....Well...I cant tell you the last time I read a book...Well maybe I can...Africa.... 6 years ago I read a book called "Bruchko" It was a great book about the life of missionary in South America...A friend of mine at North Greenville recommended it....As an educator I am really ashamed of myself but I wanted you all to know I am making an attempt to do better..We are currently reading a book in Sunday School called The Pursuit of Holiness by Jerry Bridges....It is an amazing book...It challenges me, it makes me cry, it makes me want to be more like Christ.....I think the main reason I have been able to be engaged in the book though is because of its short chapters.....I don't have time to fall asleep....When I make the journey in a month or so to the Philippines I really want to read at least one book over the trip.....Any sugestions??? I have lots of books at home that I haven't read.....Maybe I will reread Bruchko....I read that one in like a day.....It was great....I would love to hear your suggestions and maybe some advice as to how to a better read....Now that's irony.....me a reading teacher asking for advice on how to be a better reader.....P.S. Dont tell my principal.. :0)

I've got a great book that I think you might enjoy. It's by Charles stanley and its title is "When The Enemy Attacks". I didn't really know what to expect when I read it, but I found myself wanting to read it. It talks about how to recognize the attacks of Satan in our lives, and how he tries to use the smallest thing, that might seem harmless or insignificant, but it's the starting point for sin to enter your life. He gives you ways to fight the battle, and to open your eyes to sin before it gets a toehold in your life. It's probably one of the few books that I can honestly say I was truly changed when I read it. As for any other books, I have 3 that I am trying to find time to read now....Sunday school, Sunday night class and the discipleship class...if you want to finish one for me, I'll be happy to give you one!! :-)
