Better Safe than Sorry

The past few weeks I have had some intestinal, stomach..... "problems." They are pretty common for me... I have been told that I am "full of it." Don't believe me ask Melissa!!!!!!!

Today I went to the doc for the problems... It has been a bit worse than normal....
He said...... because of my age and the family history.... that it was time to go ahead with a procedure.... I am having a colonoscopy and EGD on Oct. 10th..... The doc had on his good sense of humor, and assured me that he will use separate cameras for each end... HOW NICE OF HIM!

Guess I wont be making fun of old people any more huh JuJu??? Pray that they wont find anything... The doc seemed to think it may be my gallbladder, but wanted to rule out other stuff first. I will keep you posted!

"Spirit" Night

Tonight my niece Taylor called to invite me to "Spirit" night at Chick-Fil-A... Her school PTO had a fundraiser there to raise money for the school. A certain percentage of all the receipts collected go to the school to use for various projects and school needs......

There were about a BAZILLION people there and I could not believe I went from my school to the Chick-Fil-A with all those kids... It was insane!!!!

After we had been there for a while, Taylor came from the playground and acted all sad..... We asked her why and she said because the movie hadn't started.... We asked... "What movie?"
She said, Her favorite movie Spirit..... We all just died laughing.... She thought all day long that she was gonna go to Chick-Fil-A to watch her favorite movie "Spirit," which is about a horse... Too sad for her.... but too funny for us.... Her mom promised her that she was gonna get to watch the movie when they got home!!!!

Up Late

Okay... I am not really up late, but I am for this week... not sure what has gotten into me, but I have been knocked out asleep every night this week at 930.... Its 10:10 now and I am so sleepy but my brain is on a 1000 different things....... Here's a peek into my brain right now....

1. wonder what's for lunch tomorrow at school, because I didn't get the menu choices ready before I left school

2. Who in the world is coming for a conference tomorrow????

3. When am I gonna wrap my nieces bday present for their party this weekend??

4. Are we gonna make a rain gauge tomorrow or finish our science journals???

5. Where in the world can I find Kelly Green cardstock? I looked at every office supply place in town... guess i'm googlin' it!!!!

6. What's my fire escape plan here at the house??? There is a story on the news about some couple jumping out of their 2nd floor window????

7. Did anyone else turn their heat on this morning in the car??? My toes were cold!

Okay.... That's enough peeking into my brain... There's lots more..... maybe I will get to sleep soon......

Monkey Joe's

Tonight our school had a fundraiser at this place in town called Monkey Joe's Click to see one... It is a place with all of those inflatable bouncy things and video games... Our PTO got a percentage of all the sales from tonight.. It was a great place for a fundraiser and I got to knock out a parent conference as well...

Of course all the kids (5 of my students came... YAY!!!) that were there wanted me to slide with them, and since I am am big 'ole kid.... I went.... Let's just say I might want to be a kid.... but a kid I AINT!!!!!!!!!

I went down the first slide and about 3 kids came down on top of me and crashed into my back.. I have a feeling that I will be hurting in the morning....

The next slide I went down had this heck of a rope/climbing wall in it... I fell twice trying to get up it with no shoes and then almost shot out the other end of the slide as I went down... Had it not been for the little K5 kid that I ran into I would have probably ended up on the floor....

A lot of parents were there too of course and thankfully I didn't have any holes in my socks when I took my shoes off... I WOULD HAVE DIED!!!!!!

It was great fun... but I will be hobbling into school come tomorrow morning!!!!

Christmas At Bethlehem Gultch

The title is the name of our Children's Christmas musical at church.... We meet at 6 each Sunday night for practice... grades 2-4, and Matt and I are teaching the boys, and our friends Joye, Julie, Amelia, and Kelly are teaching the girls...

The play is about a group of students who think they are going to a dude ranch and end up at a sheep farm... It is there they hear the story of Jesus from the shepherds point of view...

It is a great little musical.... Matt and I also have a acting role.... guess 2-4th grade is our age group????? Anyway.. They play has 2 farm hands... Dean and Doug... Matt is Dean and I am Doug.... Or is Matt Doug and I am Dean???? We just got the thing last week... we are still learning..... I cannot believe we are working on Christmas already... 101 days to go..... YIKES!!!!!

I cannot remember the exact date of the program.. Ill let you know when we get closer... Maybe Joye will leave the date in a comment... Pray for us!!!

Great Neighbors

Don't you just love neighbors??? For the most part you are not super duper best buds with them, because when you get home from life you just want to go in and hide from it..., but there is just an understanding between neighbors that is a good model for all friendships... Let me explain...

This morning I was making pancakes... After I got all the stuff in the bowl to mix, I realized I didn't have any eggs... I saw my neighbor across the street cutting grass so I ran out there to ask her for 2..... She was great... She stopped cutting grass... took off her grass cuttin' shoes and went right inside and without hesitation gave me the eggs....

Now.... we haven't talked in a while... She is a school teacher... I am a teacher... We probably won't talk til we come up for air at Christmas break..... I think it was before school started that we talked last......... but because of our neighborly friendship it was ok.... Some friends would be like.... Huh... He only needed something... He never talks to me...

But neighbors are different... Neighbors share without expecting something in return... Neighbors keep an eye on each other... The bake goodies for special occasions... They smile and wave every time they see you... It is just a great relationship of life.....

I am so thankful for my neighbors... I don't get to spend a lot of time with them but they're great!!!  Thanks for the eggs K.E.!!!!!

Bird Seed Garden

I may be the only one that didn't know this... but did you know that bird seed that falls from a bird feeder will grow??? I had no idea until this summer...

My great friend Pam Ray bought me a bird feeder for my 30th birthday... I was hesitant to put it out because I thought only old people had bird feeders.... but... it was a gift... it was a really nice feeder...I was getting older.... so out it went...

When Matt and I returned home from the road trip I had the most beautiful patch of green grass growing right in the middle of the flower bed... I yanked it all up, and with in just a few days more was there....

Each week, I kept pulling and pulling.... I thought I got most everything.... that was until this past week when I noticed a really tall stalk like thing growing out of the middle of my day lilies.... Upon closer inspection I noticed what it was....

CORN!!!!!!! I had corn growing in my flower bed... Apparently the corn that was mixed in the bird seed fell on fertile soil.. or mulch and up it came... I have pulled 2 stalks this week... If another one comes up I am gonna let it grow... Maybe Ill get an ear out of the deal...

Regardless.. next time you will get a pic of it... sorry I pulled it before I snapped a pic.

Customer Service

Recently I have had several experiences where I encountered some awful customer service. The businesses made excuses, tried to avoid the subject, and flat out denied any wrong doing on their part. They made me feel as if I were the one with the problem, and I was the one that they gave the privilege of being their customer rather than it being a privilege that I was giving them my hard earned money.

Yesterday I sent an email to the corporate office of one of those places, FATZ Cafe. I explained what happened in an email and hit send. I honestly did not expect a reply. I know my place in the world... I am but one little peon on the massive planet, but still I hit send. Mainly because I worked there for 10 years, I know there expectations for customer service and how they would want to know about people who work for them who do not do it!

I sent the email at 8:05 am, and at 8:45 am my cell phone rang with and unfamiliar number on the caller ID... I was hesitant to answer, but I did....

It was a guy from the corporate office. He PERSONALLY called to apologize... I was FLOORED to say the least... It was SATURDAY... It was 8:45 and this guy was on the job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so impressed with his desire to fix the mess that someone lower down on the food chain created for him....  WHAT AN EXAMPLE THIS GUY IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I hung up with him, I went to check my email...and there was an email from him as well. He really went out of his way to correct the problem... That goes a lllllllllllllonnnnnnnnnngggggg way in my book.

So tonight if you are thinking about dinner... Head to FATZ... Places like that deserve our business!!!!!!!!!

Just not with it....

Yesterday I had to run an errand for my grandma... When I jumped in the car I started it up and went on my way... As always I check out the car thermometer to see what the temp. was.... It said 106... I was like WHOAAAAAAAAA it is really hot.... I just kinda ignored it and assumed it was because the car had been sitting in the sun all day... As I went down the street I noticed it was up to 107.2... I was about to pull over because I thought the car was running hot....... Then all of a sudden it hit me around 108 (2 miles later) that I was looking at the MILEAGE!!!!!!!!!!!! What an idiot!!!!!
Actual temp... 84 degrees!!!

My excuse... It was Monday!!!
